I See You Smile

Room with a view.

How many people do you hold?

Do you ever get tired?

Are you old?

You seem vibrant and young

With the wisdom held inside

Seasons that have come and gone

How many people have you let inside?

The boats that fly by

As you rest on the shore

You are steady and consistent

You don’t leave your post.

I trust you all the more

A place to rest in

I see you smile and sigh

Another day come and gone

Another year that you thrive

I see your wave as I pass by

I feel your love even from far away

You encourage people to not hide

You have capacity to hold so many Inside your walls

A fortress made strong

You were made to stand tall

Thank you for all that you give

A place to rest

An escape with a friend

A chance to be a kid

To bask in the sun

Forget about the worries

Step away from the ware

You really are a place to hold so much care.

Consider

We come and go.

It’s the walk we take.

We find the flowers along the way.

Some we stop and take in.

Others we walk right by.

We could sit here for hours.

Some so tall we could even hide.

But today, I see.

The marvelous beauty that is surrounding me.

I stop.

Take it in and breathe.

Life happening all around me.

I don’t want to miss a thing.

Table for Two

Anything can happen,

When we trust enough to let joy in.

The weight of seriousness slips away,

Like a mask we’ve been too scared to take off.

We embrace bold laughter,

Tears spilling from eyes that have held too much,

Touching the longing of the soul.

Belly muscles aching and deep sighs,

Excavating space for more trust to be stored.

Nights filled with friendship,

Are held close, as we revel in the depth we’ve found.

"Anything can happen,

When we trust enough to let joy in.

The weight of seriousness slips away,

Like a mask we’ve been too scared to take off.

We risk fragile laughter,

Tears spilling from eyes that have held too much,

Touching the quiet tenderness of the soul.

Belly aches and deep sighs,

Open space for more.

Nights filled with friendship,

Are held close, as we dare to trust love."

Anything can happen,

In trust to let fun fill the view.

Seriousness falls off.

Like a mask worn to tight.

Risking laughter,

That streams down cheeks,

Reviving souls delight.

Belly aches and deep sighs.

Grant space all the more.

Nights full of friendship,

They are adored.

Anything can happen at a table for two.

When there is trust to let fun fill the room.

We laugh till we cry.

Then we laugh some more.

Nights full of friendship.

With those that I adore.

Innocence stored in form.

Movement without control.

Growing. Captivating hearts.

Behind the Pane

City streets, calling my name.

The noise, the bells, whistles,

Starting to blend, and sound the same.

Here,

I pause and take in.

Awakened by silence,

from behind a pane.

I can see clearly, my entire frame.

Exclusively, hearing my voice.

my heartbeat the same,

becoming spacious in a quiet place.

No distractions, don’t divert away.

Pause, respond. Still.

Walk the land, listen.

My mind at ease, stretching

Relax, thoughts breathe deep.

Rest your weary heads.

Walk to the hills, search the valleys.

Roam the land, find the fruit.

When the world feels claustrophobic,

You find my heart.

I am never left wandering around in the dark.

So here I come.

To rest from the noise.

I bless and I bless.

I like when you come close.

City streets.

They call my name,

The noise, the bells, whistles.

They are all starting to sound the same.

When I pause to take it in, from behind the pane

I can see clearly, my entire frame.

I can hear my voice.

My heartbeat the same.

It is spacious in this quiet place.

My mind is at ease.

There is room for my thoughts

And plenty of room to breathe.

When the world feels claustrophobic

You find my heart.

I am never left wandering around in the dark.

So here I come.

To rest from the noise.

I bless and I bless.

I like when you come close.

I Wonder

Is this an old dream or a child I see?

Is this you or me?

When we were filled with courage in our hearts.

To be someone great, make an impact and be set apart.

Eyes of wonder to what is possible in the world

Is it still there?

Or has everything been unfurled?

Is there room for change?

Has the vision grown old, stayed the same?

Is it locked hidden inside the eyes of the little ones?

The moments we tried.

Then despise the outcome.

Was it all a lie?

Was I dumb to try?

Is it worth it to get up again?

To make a new dream?

To meet the spark of inspiration?

To let my soul ignite?

Worth the risk?

Passion awake, fiery and bright?

It is like the greeting of a long lost friend.

Finding hope in their eyes.

Meeting my fingertips.

Giving space to let my feet roam and fly.

So, I wonder.

Setting out to see.

Beyond, out of the mundane.

Beauty times infinity.

Into the divine.

To see a world painted with color and light.

Brilliant and bold.

Beautiful and bright.

To see a child that is astonished at who he can be.

No roof, no limit, no fear.

Only, to see.

That anything is possible.

So, I wonder on.

As a hero stands before me

Bending low to greet

Remembrance

Time. Stillness. Waiting.

Rushing. Passing. Fleeting.

Frozen. Captured. Treasured.

I can remember the touch of your shirt.

The gold in your band.

The smile on your face when you would reach out your hand.

Now the seconds they freeze.

I remember the sound.

Your watch as it ticked.

The roar of basement football and baseball games.

The geese outside on the ground.

We would look out the window

To the lake that held so many years of joy.

The resting place you made.

Home.

I am thankful for this moment of time in frame.

Beyond it’s touch,

Yet still calling my name.

The imprints on my heart forever it will make.

Time treasured with one I love.

I’ll always keep it tucked in a safe place.

It is beautiful to remember.

Care

You always have meaning. You mean something to the roses you admire, to the shore you stand upon, and to the salty air you breathe. You mean something to the sunsets you marvel at and the smell of rain you inhale. You mean something to the sun and the moon and the stars, which shine for you. Finding meaning in this world and in this life can be as simple as slowing down and realizing that just by existing, you already hold so much meaning in this life. - Courtney Peppernell

Light

My soul lingers.

As golden oil pours down walls.

My gaze fixed.

Beauty, all around.

Found, looking above the crowd.

An alley is a gateway.

Look deeper.

Stay and linger.

The rush moves around me.

The sound tries to pull me out.

I stand, I stay.

Beauty is worth the wait.

The land of the unknown

The boarders we put up.

The guards we hire.

The protect the unknown.

The places we long to go and desire.

But if the guard steps down?

Will we be safe?

To find that we can trust.

Maybe find a resting place.

The guards stay up.

I will look with wonder.

To keep safe and secure.

Protect at all costs.

No one will plunder.

If only meant for a season?

Have they outstayed their welcome?

A risk, I let them go.

To feel the water on my skin.

Refresh my soul.

We have waited, it’s time to drive in.

————

A pathway or a ledge.

A wonder or a fear.

Tension rising as the chain is coming near.

Who put this here?

My unease and insecurity.

My protection and fear.

Mother and Daughter

Swirl of delight around me

The beauty of you

Reflecting on me

Time and years

They return to me

As I look in the eyes

Of one who looks like me

And some time from now,

She will look back and smile.

Seeing a mother who cared,

And stayed like a child.

The stories she’ll share,

All the adventures had

A lifetime of love.

Swirl of delight around me.

——////

Mother and daughter,

What a beautiful site to see.

The two of them,

Greatly enjoying each other’s company.

A moment in time,

Before baby brother was here.

A time that so expectant,

Life about to go into next gear.

Some time from now,

She will look back and smile.

A mother who cared,

And stayed like a child.

I wonder the stories they will have,

All the adventures they will share.

A lifetime of love.

Delight swirling in the air.

Immersed

You hold majesty and eternity inside your grasp.

The time it would take you to share,

It’s sad when I move on to fast.

Your layers deep you run.

You’ve continued to hold up.

Continue to expose yourself

Over and over to the sun.

What beauty you invite me into.

I am completely immersed.

I am captivated walking around your boarders.

I have to stop.

Sometimes it hurts.

Because it’s hard to take in.

When something is so grand.

I don’t want to get used to this, ever.

Like I’m used to seeing the back of my hand.

Friendship

Time passes slowly,

When you are around.

The days become long,

And there a hush from the crowd.

So much gets compacted into the time we share.

Eternity sits with us,

Welcomes us in, with room to spare.

Minutes turn to hours,

This is exactly how I want to spend.

My heart is satisfied,

Because of what I have with you, my friend.

A Beacon

Lighthouse on the cliffs, what is your name?

What storms have you seen?

How many ships have you saved?

Have you spoken today?

When the fog is thick, do you get scared?

That’s a lot of pressure, how do you bear?

Lighting up the dark, sending so much care.

I see you standing tall and confident

Though seasons change, years pass by

Are you worn down?

Tired at all on the inside?

So many come and go

Yet who are the ones that remain?

Thank you for continuing to stay.

A lot come home to you.

Who do you go home to?

Are you tired from the battering of the winds and the waves?

“Your wise and old and I am young and looking for help.

Teach me your ways.

You have stayed.

Thank you for every way that you have stayed.”

What do you see that I cannot? - perspective

Who’s taking care of you? - you are tall and strong. Who do you come home to?

Lizard

A tree becomes a castle

To roam and hide

Roaming the world in a foreign land

What if it was made of slides nad tunnels

Walls were places to stand.

It’s like I want to write something profound but this just doesn’t seem quite right yet.

This morning I was glad I didn’t move swiftly

I was able to see the lizard

I come close but you run away.

To be so small,

To roam and glide,

To find all these places,

You make home and hide.

A game of catch and chase,

Looking for bugs.

I found you on my doorstep,

I admired you from above.

Your colors on my plant,

Are superb to say the least.

You could stay for a while,

You may find a feast.

But if I move in to close,

I know you will run.

So I’ll say hi from afar,

And let you bask in the sun.

Toodles.

Slowing Down

POSTED

Space of color and shade.

Where the air is clear,

And peace fills the day.

Step in, and take a look around.

There is wonder in our midst,

And joy to be found.

Take the pause, and sit still.

An image can speak.

If you give it time, it will.

Linger here.

In a world that is fast.

To take time to slow,

And let each moment last.

Whole Hearted

Thankful for these two whole hearted leaders.

Tried and true.

Moving through life with Jesus.

And stay in sync with you.

They follow the wind.

With their feet steady on the ground.

Ask questions and don’t pretend.

Letting their love speak and it’s profound.

Quick to care.

And not afraid to move slow.

An impact that is so refreshing to the soul.

They have taught me abundance.

And so many many other things.

I treasure the wisdom.

And the humility they bring.

Their courage is empowering.

Their pioneers of faith.

And they continually choose to give and give,

While they also know the deep need for a resting place.

Walking with these whole hearted leaders,

I will forever be grateful.

To be like a child

POSTED

Fascination brimming.

Excitement alive.

Oh, the look in a child’s eyes.

Where wonder dances through their whole sky.

Where birds are magic.

Squirrels are funny.

Whales can speak.

And we laugh at the word tummy.

The simple becomes fascinating.

If you have the eyes to see.

Step through the door.

They invite naturally.

Don’t watch from the outside.

Come on in.

The mind of a child.

Let the fire come alive again.

New Seasons

New Seasons.

A year of posting photos and sharing story.

Trying a new thing. I am a photographer and love capturing families and events for people to remember the significant times in their lives. I also love beauty and capturing light around me. This is for my images to have a place to land. To remember and sit with images I have taken and see what words come from being with one image for a while. They say a picture holds 1000 words and I am going to share some of the words that I see in some of these images. Follow along if you would like and if you’re inspired, please share your words too.

Hey!

I didn’t take this photo but it’s good to see your face.

I went and traveled with friends to a very lovely place.

Switzerland, Italy and Germany.

This was a spontaneous day in France.

We ate crepes, walked the town.

Sometimes I want to rhyme to make something sound so good but I want to make something emotional and feel understood. It seems that my brain only like to write one way. I can’t step out. The rhythm keeps pulling me back even when I try to stray. How to people do it with the words they write.
